Hiline Hike
View Slideshow

Hiline Trail - Sedona - This trail leaves from the Yavapi Vista parking lot off Hwy. 179. There are several trails here, mostly short, and they connect to Hiline. The fastest way to get to Hiline is to take Kaibob to Yavapi Vista to Slim Shady to Hiline. Hiline is a relatively easy trail with some elevation gain but not much. Although, for those of you with bad knees, initially there are quite a few steps.

The trail winds around the red cliffs. This is a lovely hike. You see many of the formations along Hwy. 179 before coming around a corner and seeing Cathedral Rock - breathtaking! Then continuing, you overlook the west side - Hwy. 89A.

Trail is narrow and bikes and horses share it although I only saw one of each. It is 2 miles to the turn-around spot. There are great views of Sedona - almost 360°. You overlook the area off 89A on the west side of Sedona as well as the town itself. For those who want to continue, trail goes steeply down the hillside toward Red Rock Crossing. Most hikers turn around at this point.
