If you are in the Santa Fe, NM area, you must check out Kasha-Katewe Tent Rocks which is located 35 miles from Santa Fe. It features a slot canyon and very unusual and beautiful formations. I have visited most of the southwest parks and monuments and have seen nothing like it elsewhere.

The slot canyon trail is 1.5 miles long one way. It goes through a slot canyon and then meanders to the top where you have 360° views. On your return trip, you can take the cave loop which is approximately one half mile back to the parking lot so the entire trail is only about 3 miles. There is a 630' elevation gain on the slot canyon trail and limited gain on the cave loop.
